Post-court
It can be difficult to know what to do once your matter has concluded in the court system. There many services and supports that are available to you.
Victims' Register - Adult, youth and mental health matters
Queensland Corrective Services Victims Register supports victims of crime in the situation where the offender has received a term of imprisonment in their sentence (Adult). The Department of Youth Justice and Victim Support’s youth offenders register provides updates when the offender is a young person who has been sentenced to detention. Likewise, victims can apply for information about alleged offenders who have a mental illness or intellectual disability.

Transcripts
As the victim, you are eligible to apply to receive a free transcript of court events, such as the trial or sentence, if the defendant is an adult, via QTranscripts. Transcripts of court events involving young offenders can only be accessed with the permission of the court. Victims who wish to obtain transcripts associated with the youth offending should seek independent legal advice to obtain the required court order.
QTranscripts is the online portal operated by the Department of Justice to provide you with the ability to order transcription records, pre-existing transcription records and audio recordings for legal proceedings before Queensland Courts and Tribunals.
If you require assistance to obtain a transcript, contact your victim liaison officer.
Documents
You are able to request copies of some documents throughout the duration of the matter, and after it has been finalised.
You may request copies of your victim impact statement, formal witness statement and any domestic violence orders made by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) during sentence proceedings.
Right to information
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has delegated the power to deal with applications made under the Right to Information Act 2009 (RTI Act) or the Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act)—if they relate to your personal information—to the Director-General, Department of Justice.
Find out more about Right to Information (RTI) or Information Privacy (IP) applications for ODPP documents.
Unreturned items from investigation
If you have not yet received your items, such as a phone or laptop, after they were obtained by the police for evidence, please contact your arresting officer.
Give feedback following sentencing
We understand that an outcome of the court process may not feel like it reflects your experience. If you'd like to share your feedback, you can complete the victim liaison survey or submit feedback via our compliments and complaints process.
If you need anything explained or clarified, now that the matter is at an end, please speak to your VLO or crown prosecutor.
